Market
Tenet 3. We buy from each other first.
3. We buy from each other first. When a fellow member's goods are reasonably close in price and quality to an outsider's, we buy from the member. What counts as close is your call.
How it will work
Members will list what they make and sell: food, goods, services, skills. Prices in sats. You pay the member directly, in Bitcoin. This site never touches money.
What counts as close is your call. No one checks your receipts. It's a promise you keep.
Why it matters
Bitcoin is our money (tenet 1). Spending it with each other turns savings into a living economy. Every sat spent with a member stays in the commonwealth. Bitcoin Beach in El Salvador showed what a small Bitcoin economy can look like.
Taxes
In the US, spending bitcoin counts as selling it, so a purchase can create a taxable gain. Selling goods for sats is income. We pay what we owe. Ask a tax professional.
The members' directory opens once members have signed the charter.
